Rich Rice is associate professor at Texas Tech where he serves as composition committee member, UIL Ready Writing Judge, Chess Super Saturdays Teacher, Lubbock Hispanic Cultural Center for the Arts Board Member, Knight Raiders Chess Team Faculty Co-Advisor, 2311 Online Insructor, summer reading program committee member, Shake Hands With Your Future Film Festival Teacher, "Chess: It's a Girl Thing" Teacher, MuLL co-Director, department technology committee chair, and marathon reading founder and Sigma Tau Delta faculty co-advisor. Dr. Rice also serves as an editorial board member of Kairos, C&C Online, TCQ, English Education, and The Teacher Educator. He specializes in new media, classical rhetoric, teaching training, computers and writing, and service learning. He is currently a principle investigator on two new media grants with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, on a chess and writing grant with Harwell Elementary through the Lubbock Area Foundation Center, and on a TTU Faculty Research Incentive grant to explore smarTTcasting interfaces within Moodle course management systems. Current book-length projects:
Dr. Rice is also working on opening a bookstore called iBookSwap in Lubbock, Texas, where the motto is "Getting Books to Motivated Readers." Give one, take one.
