Images of Handwritten pages

The links below will download jpg images of handwritten pages from the 1831 Album Wreath held by Texas Tech Special Collections.

  • 1-4r-p47-1-h-oh!(21).JPG
  • 1-10r-np-1-h-calumny(20).JPG

  • 2-13r-np-1-h-thoughless(24).JPG
  • 2-13r-np-1-h-thoughless(24).JPG
  • Since the lines on the pages below work out to be the equivalent of other single pages, these two pages should be completed as one transcription:

  • 2-4v-np-1-h-although(12).JPG
  • 2-4v-np-2-h-although(12).JPG
  • 2-5r-np-1-h-if(10).JPG
  • 2-5r-np-2-h-if(10).JPG
  • The formula in the title indicates the placement of the leaf in the volume.

Take for example the file titled 2-5r-np-2-h-if(10).JPG

    • 2 indicates volume 2
    • 5r indicates that the leaf is foliated as number 5 in that volume and that the text you are considering appears on the recto
    • np indicates there is no pagination
    • 2 indicates that this is the second image of this page (so you might wish to download both to see if one is more legible)
    • h indicates that the page is handwritten; e on later pages you will receive later in the semester indicates that the page is printed with excerpts.
    • if(10) provides the first word on the leaf, (10) is the number of lines of text on the page
    • .jpg is of course the file format

We will have an opportunity to examine this very rare and unique book later in the term.
